No, "We don't play guitars", by: "Chicks on Speed"
The "Large Hadron Rap"
MTV2 Video Mods - Bring Me to Life This is some of the best (and most appealing,) animation. (Okay the music is generic "Chick Rock", but not that bad.) In some places, its flawless. In others, it merely excellent.
Antoine Dufour - Drac & Friends I - Guitar -www.candyrat.com
I used to play like that, on a classical nylon string guitar (
When I studied the guitar, I studied everything from the growing of the spruce to make the face, to the actual construction, {hence my period of apprenticeship} to the making and winding of the strings, to the styles of play, to actually playing it. I studied the acoustics and the electronics of recording it. I felt I "knew" the guitar.
O.M.G. ... This is AWFUL. Its absolutely cringe worthy. Its like discovering that your bathroom shower is hooked up to a broadcast camera. Its SO friggin' bad that it could only have come from Microsoft. (And notice the kid's laptop... It's a heavily disguised Mac...)
This next video is disturbing on so many levels.
Apart from being a song with only one lyric "They only want you when you're seventeen. When you're twenty-one you're no fun. They take a Polaroid and let you go, say they'll let you know, so come on..." repeated over and over, with a pop-synth melodic construction of unwavering symplicity underlying it, this is the victory of the video over the music.
They're sort of a more polished, more processed, version of "Chicks On Speed" except that CoS were a musical off-shoot of a couple of women in the fashion industry. CoS said it best when they said: "We Don't Play Guitars".
With the frequency shifting and correcting capabilities of computers shaping whatever sound the musicians can generate, I can't help but wonder if the talent is mostly pre- and post- production...
Like "David Byrne" and "Talking Heads" once sang: "My God, What have we done?"
And keeping with "Ladytron", this video is funny in being "ska" in style, extremely so with black and white everywhere, without being "ska" in music, white reggae a laThe Police:
